Sale of Padstow-based book printer preserves 130 jobs
KR8 Advisory has secured the future of award-winning Cornwall-based book printing company TJ Books Ltd (“the Company”), which employs over 130 people.
TJ Books, located in Padstow, has a heritage dating back over 50 years, establishing an impressive reputation as a world-class book manufacturer.
Jimmy Saunders of KR8 Advisory was appointed as administrator of TJ Books on 21 February 2025. Following a successful marketing process, KR8 sold the business and assets of the Company to Clays Group, securing the future of the business and 132 jobs.
This business, like many others, faced headwinds caused by general economic uncertainty, compounded by an unsuccessful expansion plan following the Company’s acquisition of a competitor.
Jimmy Saunders, managing director at KR8 Advisory, said: “As the largest employer in the area, it was important to preserve the vital skills and experience of the local workforce and I am delighted that KR8 has played a part in securing the long-term future of this business.”
KR8 Advisory was launched in January 2025 by an established team of advisory-led restructuring professionals, with offices in Manchester and London. The practice is led by eight managing directors, supported by an experienced team of turnaround professionals.
The practice is a part of the restructuring division of multi-disciplinary professional services firm K3 Capital Group – one of four divisions, which also comprise business sales, tax & transaction services and technology solutions.
